CSI Printing Expands Capabilities With New Heidelberg Speedmaster 102

Press release from the issuing company

KENNESAW, Ga., January 7, 2003 - Heidelberg today announced that CSI, the largest full service print shop in Austin, Texas, has added a new Speedmaster SM102 10-color with perfector in order to meet and exceed its customers growing needs for faster turnarounds on large jobs and to offer more unique print applications that can set them apart from the competition. Established in 1939, CSI has relied completely on Heidelberg's quality and experience for all of its prepress, press and finishing needs. With almost $30 million dollars in revenue in 2003 and more than 160 employees, CSI works with Heidelberg to find new applications that can help the company grow and succeed. "Perfecting technology allows our customers to quickly produce more consistent, higher quality jobs than ever before and CSI is a great example of how printers can utilize the latest technology to succeed," said the President of Heidelberg USA, Niels M. Winther. "Heidelberg is committed to broadening its position as the industry leader in perfecting technology and has already installed more than 1,000 Speedmaster perfectors worldwide." In just six weeks with the new press in its shop, CSI has added new color capabilities, increased output, decreased overall operating costs and reduced makeready to 15 minutes on its largest jobs without adding additional operators. "The system’s automation and operator friendly setup has allowed us to use the same crew that ran our 29 inch 6-color press, to run our new 40 inch 10- color Heidelberg press with very little training,” said Chuck Sack, owner of CSI. "We've relied on Heidelberg equipment and its employees for many years and we're looking to them to help guide our company into the future and ahead of our competition as well." The Speedmaster SM102 features new automated ink fountains, a new Preset Plus suction belt driven feeder system, state-of-the-art CP 2000 control system and increased speed to help printers improve the efficiency and output of their shops. Heavy coverage, demanding half tones, coated stock and even process color jobs with varnishes or PMS colors on both sheet sides can now be produced in one productive pass. In addition to the SM 102 10 color perfector, CSI's sheetfed operation uses a Heidelberg Quickmaster 46 2-color system, Speedmaster SM102 2-color perfector, Speedmaster SM102 8-color perfector with aqueous coater to handle all of its conventional printing needs. In addition to its sheetfed systems, CSI uses two Heidelberg Topsetter CtP devices, Heidelberg’s Signastation, a Heidelberg pallet turner, multiple Stahl folders, three Polar cutting systems and two Heidelberg saddle stitchers to make it one of the most innovative print shops in the Southwest. CSI works with some of the country’s most specialized companies to design, print, kit, store and distribute materials for Fortune 500 clients, advertising agencies, local businesses, state and local government. CSI produces everything from mass direct mail jobs and annual reports to high-quality and high-volume advertising and brochure pieces and marketing materials.
