Cummings, Sweeney And White Named To R&E Council Nonpareil Society

PARAMUS, N.J., JANUARY 7, 2004: – The Research and Engineering Council of NAPL will induct Dr. Twyla J. Cummings, John P. Sweeney, and Jeffrey L. White as members of its Nonpareil Society during the organization’s Winter Steering Committee Meeting in Coral Springs, Fla., on January 27. The R&E Council established the Nonpareil Society in 1990 to provide recognition for R&E members who have made significant contributions to the Council and the printing industry. In making the announcement, R&E Council of NAPL Managing Director Ron Mihills said, “The Nonpareil Society is extremely proud to welcome these three outstanding individuals. Each of them has helped move the graphic communications industry forward and played a major role in Council activities. We look forward to their continuing and invaluable contributions.” Following is background information on the 2003 inductees, all of whom have distinguished records of service to the industry: • Dr. Twyla J. Cummings, assistant professor, Rochester Institute of Technology’s School of Print Media, Rochester, N.Y., provides undergraduate and graduate instruction in Printing Management and serves as coordinator for the Printing/MBA program collaboration. Dr. Cummings previously served as Business Development manager at Scitex Digital Printing, Inc., Dayton, Ohio. She earned her doctorate in Management from the Union Institute in Cincinnati. The R&E Council of NAPL recently elected her vice president, Binding, Finishing & Distribution. • John P. Sweeney, director, color measurement systems, Graphic Microsystems, Inc., Sunnyvale, Calif., joined GMI, which manufactures closed-loop color control systems for sheetfed and web offset presses, in 1998, following a four-year stint as vice president of the Graphic Arts Technical Foundation. A graduate of Carnegie Mellon and the University of Pittsburgh Katz School of Business, Sweeney is an officer of SWOP, Inc., and serves on the CIP4 and CGATS committees. A vice president of the R&E Council of NAPL for the past two years, he is a member of the group’s Steering Committee. • Jeffrey L. White, director, MIS Sales, EFI, Inc. (formerly Printcafe Software, Inc.), Foster City, Calif., held a number of positions with the Printcafe/Logic Associates Group, including director of International and Central U.S. Region Sales Operations, and managing director of Logic Covalent UK, before assuming his current position at EFI, which provides print management software for printers and print buyers. Involved in the graphic arts industry since childhood when he apprenticed in his father’s New York City printing operation, White holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Printing Management from RIT and earned a Master of Science in Computer Systems Management from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1986. An NAPL Board member, White currently serves as president of the R&E Council of NAPL and has been a member of the group’s Steering Committee for nine years.
