Metacommunications Announces Metaconsole Upgrade For Virtual Ticket 5.5 And Job Manager 3.5

Press release from the issuing company

IOWA CITY, IA - January 6th, 2004. Today MetaCommunications, Inc. announced that its latest software release package includes a major upgrade of MetaConsole, MetaCommunications' database management and administration program. The new version of MetaConsole facilitates and centralizes Virtual Ticket / Job Manager database management by allowing administrators to create database maintenance plans, restore databases, manage SQL Server settings and manage SQL Server Agent jobs through a single graphical interface. The release package upgrade also adds support for Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Desktop Edition (MSDE). MSDE is a no cost embedded subset of Microsoft SQL Server technology that provides local or remote database services for MetaComunications products. It is optimal for entry-level MetaCommunications system installations and can be easily scaled by upgrading to the full version of Microsoft SQL Server. "We’re excited about offering our customers the choice of using MSDE with our products as an entry-level option. MSDE is a solid, robust and scalable solution for those who want to start small, but retain the flexibility of scaling to an enterprise-class solution such as Microsoft SQL Server. MSDE is based on the same data engine as SQL Server, so those who choose to install MSDE can upgrade to SQL Server later if their needs demand, without changing their data configuration," says Robert T. Long, Executive Vice President of MetaCommunications.
