IKEA furnishes ROTOMAN S printer with its top offset award

Press release from the issuing company

December 17, 2003 -- International furniture retailer IKEA has awarded its top printing prize to one of the first facilities in the world to use MAN Roland’s ROTOMAN-S web offset press with sleeve technology. MohnMedia AG in Gutersloh, Germany last month received the Tulip Award from Inter IKEA Systems (IIS), the furniture giant’s communications arm in charge of catalog production. The printer bested over 30 other printing companies involved in the production of the IKEA catalogs. The high-visibility assignment for which the award was granted involves printing covers for a wide range of IKEA catalogs on MohnMedia’s ROTOMAN-S. The MAN Roland system can print at speeds of up to 85,000 cph, thanks to an array of innovations led by its sleeve-offset technology. The advancement virtually eliminates gap bump and the vibrations that go with it, stepping up both productivity and print quality. “The award standards are high,” noted a report on the “Best Offset Printing Company” honor. “But the team at MohnMedia met and exceeded every one of them superbly.”
