Mail-Well Responds to Recent Tragedy

ENGLEWOOD, Colo.--Dec. 9, 2003-- Mail-Well, Inc., one of North America's leading providers of visual communications services, today issued the following statement regarding this morning's tragedy at the PrintXcel Visalia, California plant. Early this morning, an armed individual who was formerly employed by the Visalia plant entered the facility. Local law enforcement responded to the location. Two deaths have been reported, one of the gunman, and another a current employee of the Visalia facility. The building has been secured and all other employees are accounted for. "Our thoughts and prayers are with employees and their families during this tragedy," said Paul Reilly, president, CEO, and Chairman of the Board of Mail-Well, PrintXcel's parent company. "We are deeply saddened by this incident and offer our sincere sympathies and support to those affected." Woody Davis, senior vice president and company spokesperson commented, "due to the nature of this crisis and the early stages of the police investigation, we are referring outside questions to the local Visalia law enforcement at 559-713-4216." Open since 1994, the PrintXcel Visalia facility primarily produces mailing products and employs more than 80 individuals. The company is currently working with its employee assistance program to offer counseling to effected employees.
