EFI: DCC Kastl First to Implement Hagen OA Management System in Germany

Press release from the issuing company

FOSTER CITY, Calif.--Dec. 8, 2003-- Electronics For Imaging, the world leader in digital imaging and print management solutions for commercial and enterprise printing, has announced that specialist Document Competence Center Kastl, based in Stuttgart, Germany, is EFI's first German customer to implement its Hagen OA management information system. Hagen OA, a comprehensive, modular-based MIS software system, is among EFI's portfolio of MIS solutions for the commercial printing market resulting from its recent acquisition of Printcafe. Established in 1981, DCC Kastl has grown in parallel with the digital print market to become a leading provider of both digital and offset print services. The company offers a comprehensive range of services from printing simple A5 direct mail items to producing complex, personalized variable data booklets. Kastl is a long-time user of EFI's Fiery servers to drive their digital color, high speed production printers as well as Velocity software for workflow productivity. Among their leading corporate customers are Daimler and Neoplan. "We were looking for a comprehensive management information system that would unite every part of our business to offer us time savings, workflow improvements, faster access to relevant data and improved transparency of all our working processes," said Siegmar Kastl, owner and managing director of DCC Kastl. "Hagen will provide access to all aspects of our business. Also, having utilized EFI's products over the years to increase the quality and output of our digital printers, we know we are working with a trusted partner who will help us make our company even more productive and profitable." "Kastl is a leading innovator in commercial printing with a deep understanding of the importance of managing their business workflow just as efficiently as they do their digital and offset workflows," said Paul Cripps, managing director of EFI, Europe. "We are proud that they have selected our Hagen OA system to gain greater visibility into their business processes and provide increased communication with their customers." Hagen OA integrates a robust, advanced accounting package with high-end modular applications ranging from job estimating and ordering, through job management and scheduling to inventory management and sales analysis that enable Kastl to keep pace with the increasing demands of its customers and maintain close management of its internal processes and procedures. Version 7.5 of Hagen was launched at Graph Expo in October this year and contains multiple new features including the addition of system wide, user-defined email triggers, estimating and fulfillment improvements, enhanced integration to AutoCount, new prepress sheeting capabilities and upgrades to its shipping programme, invoicing and tax-table importing modules. Kastl's installation of the Foundation Suite of its Hagen OA system, as well as the Accounting Suite and Scheduling Module started at the beginning of December 2003. DCC Kastl joins other leading European print providers who have signed up for the multi-language version of Hagen since its launch in 2002.
