Oce partnership commitment wins Arizona 500 deal

Press release from the issuing company

December 4th, 2003 -- Dynamic Digital Imaging (DDI) of Norwich has become the first company in the UK to purchase the Oce Arizona 500 wide format outdoor-durable inkjet printer, citing Océ’s “excellent” service support and ongoing partnership philosophy as major reasons for the acquisition. DDI, which aims to become the premier sign trade supplier in the UK, has enjoyed a fruitful relationship with Océ Display Graphics Systems since installing its first Océ Arizona 180 four years ago. A second Arizona 180 followed some time later. “We’ve worked with Océ for several years now,” said Adrian Rope, Managing Director of DDI, “and they have a proven track record for after sales service with the Arizona 180s. Océ’s back up service is excellent, and this, together with the dedicated technicians the company provides to help perfect the output of the Arizonas, had a key bearing on our decision. On top of that, we’ve always found the Arizona systems to be top quality.” The deal comes at a time of considerable change at DDI. The company has a brand new 8500 sq/ft facility in Norwich, and has just launched the UK’s first dedicated 24-hour print service. This has involved building a dedicated team of experts to run round-the-clock shifts, enabling the production of interior exhibition, large and grand format solvent, and UV direct digital printing within 24 hours of receiving print-ready artwork. DDI expects high growth from the 24-hour service, and the Océ Arizona 500 has been bought to handle the increased volumes of printing that will accrue. It will be employed to run high volume banner and self-adhesive vinyl jobs, such as high quality vehicle graphics. “The Océ Arizona 500 will offer unparalleled quality at high production speeds, especially on to self-adhesive vinyls,” Rope continues. “It can also achieve bright solid colours, and smooth continuous tones up to a print width of 1900mm.” The print quality and speed in question is an apparent 600 dpi using ColorBlend 6-colour technology, and up to 500 sq/ft per hour. The inks used are solvent-based and are UV-durable for up to two years. “Our customers’ success is Océ’s success, so we pleased to see DDI prospering and growing,” said Nick Klitsie, Business Unit Director of Océ UK’s Wide Format Printing Systems division. “With this first Océ Arizona 500, and its new 24-hour service, DDI has grabbed a couple of UK firsts, and we will be working alongside the company all the way to ensure that both elements play a significant role in DDI’s future growth.”
