Wausau Paper Selects Nexus for Eastern U.S. Distribution

Press release from the issuing company

Allentown, PA, July 09, 2008 -- Nexus Distribution successfully opened a new East Coast Distribution Center for Wausau Paper. The implementation of the new DC and logistics strategy commenced on March 3, 2008 in an effort to enhance service to customers of Wausau's Printing & Writing division. The company selected Nexus' facility in Allentown, Pennsylvania near the interchange of Interstates 78 and 476 as the new base for East Coast distribution activity. This facility provides the benefits of the latest distribution technology, the ability to utilize intermodal rail, and Nexus' specialized understanding of the needs of paper industry customers. Overnight and Same Day delivery service is now available to a larger number of Wausau Paper's East Coast customers.

"Establishing this distribution center, which houses the entire portfolio of Wausau Paper stock brands and grades, emphasizes our commitment to the commercial printing industry, our merchant distribution partners, and retail customers in the eastern third of the U.S. This facility has allowed us to enhance the high level of service we provide East Coast customers through our 'Think Service' program," said Daniel Trettin, senior vice president of Wausau Paper's Printing & Writing business unit. "The selection of this east coast distribution center is another example of our practice of adopting sustainable operational strategies such as intermodal distribution which reduce the carbon dioxide equivalent emissions of our operations."

Mark Ofenloch, Nexus COO added, "We are delighted to have been selected as Wausau Paper's premier 3PL Provider in the East Coast. The Wausau distribution program features excellent applications of technology and inventory control. The start-up required the integration of warehouse management systems and the implementation was truly a collaborative effort. In addition to supporting Wausau's intermodal transportation strategy, we hope to offer significant freight consolidation opportunities as well."
