Quad/Graphics Awards 349 College Scholarships

Press release from the issuing company

June 29, 2004 -- Quad/Graphics has awarded college scholarships to 349 children of employees through its Windhover Scholar Program this year. The students were selected by an independent committee of educators to receive scholarships ranging from $500 to $5,000. Monies can be used to pay for tuition, books and other fees at any accredited university or college. Students can reapply annually for the scholarships for up to five years. "What sets the Windhover Scholar Program apart is its evaluation process and purpose: to benefit as many students as possible," said Emmy LaBode, Quad/Graphics Vice President of Employee Services. "The selection committee considers factors beyond grade point and finances, including a student’s goals, commitment and enthusiasm. By broadening traditional parameters for eligibility, we can help more Quad families." According to Thomas A. Quadracci, Quad/Graphics President & CEO, the scholarship program is an important extension of the company’s long-standing tradition of investing in employee education. "Since our company’s founding we’ve been committed to providing educational and professional development opportunities for all our employees," he said. "We're proud to be able to extend this commitment to our employees' children as well, and to help these young adults fulfill their dreams." Over its 14-year existence, the company's Windhover Scholar Program has awarded more than 1,800 scholarships to the children of company employees to help manage the cost of higher education.
