Heidelberg To Provide Roadmap For Computer Intergrated Manufacturing At Graph Expo

Press release from the issuing company

KENNESAW, Ga., August 4, 2003 – Heidelberg USA, at Graph Expo and Converting Expo 2003, will highlight the benefits of computer integrated manufacturing (CIM) and demonstrate through its Prinect family of workflow products how these solutions can help printers run smarter businesses and increase profitability. The centerpiece of Heidelberg’s exhibit booth – once again the largest at the show - will be a 100-seat theatre where members of the graphic arts community will be treated to a presentation that guides them through the CIM process, teaching how it can benefit their businesses. The presentation also will highlight CIM technology developments from Heidelberg that have positioned the company as the only single-source provider of a complete workflow that is based on open standards. Printers will learn how to get started in CIM and how to leverage the equipment that is in their shops today. “In these changing times, when printers are worried about how they can be more profitable, we believe it is more important than ever to educate them about the power of computer integrated manufacturing,” said Niels Winther, president of Heidelberg USA. “We want to demonstrate that by seamlessly connecting business and production management, printers can become more flexible, accurate, efficient and overall better managers of their businesses.” Complementing the main presentation, Heidelberg will conduct workflow tours that walk visitors through a CIM environment. Printers will learn how to connect existing equipment and create a plan for adding technology over time to create a completely connected workflow. The tours will show Prinect workflow solutions that are currently being utilized by thousands of printers throughout the world and provide a preview of upcoming solutions. The largest national tradeshow for the printing and graphic arts industry, Graph Expo takes place in Chicago at McCormick Place South, Sept. 28 – Oct. 1. Heidelberg is located in Booth #1000 at the show. Prinect is the comprehensive workflow management solution from Heidelberg. It records and optimizes print-specific working processes from prepress to production and finishing. Prinect also integrates all levels of job processing. It is a highly modular, scalable and open system providing solutions that are tailor-made to suit customers' needs, easy to apply and can be continuously expanded. The flexibility and reliability that Prinect provides gives companies a crucial competitive advantage which can be further enhanced thanks to the increasing JDF-compatibility of all components in the Prinect workflow. The Job Definition Format (JDF) is supported by the CIP4 consortium of major manufacturers in Prepress, Press, and Postpress.
