Fujifilm Introduces FINALPROOF Material for Proofing with Creo SQUAREspot

Press release from the issuing company

HANOVER PARK, Ill. (July 23, 2003) – Fujifilm is bringing its high-end color and digital contract proofing expertise to Creo Trendsetter Spectrum and Proofsetter Spectrum digital halftone proofing devices with the introduction of the new FINALPROOF TPM proofing material. FINALPROOF TPM is a high resolution and consistent media that fits seamlessly within established Creo workflows. Featuring Fujifilm’s Thin Layer Thermal Transfer technology, FINALPROOF TPM uses the thermal energy of the Creo SQUAREspot imaging head to enable Fujifilm’s binary technology to transfer the pigment layer, producing a precise and smooth image structure unique to this new proofing media. “Fujifilm is proud to partner with Creo to introduce FINALPROOF TPM material,” says Don Schroeder, color group manager for Fujifilm proofing products, Enovation Graphic Systems. “This is one more product within the FINALPROOF family that now uniquely bridges two different technologies with one stable, consistent and proven media.” The combination of the FINALPROOF TPM material and the Creo proofing devices gives users two distinct advantages. Not only are the proofs pigment-based, but they are also available in a four-up or eight-up format, allowing printers and prepress operators to best evaluate the imposition of color and its probable outcome on press. Secondly, they also have the ability to proof to press stock and make folded mock-ups of the end product for customer approval. Proofing on the actual stock most accurately reflects the intentions of the print creator and is the style of proof easiest for print buyers, designers and marketing directors. “Creo is excited to work with Fujifilm to enable our customers to use Fujifilm FINALPROOF TPM,” says Creo Product Manager Kevin Cazabon. “The combination of Fuji’s proofing media and Creo’s imaging technology results in consistent, high quality contract proofs that our customers can depend on.” The Creo Trendsetter Spectrum proofing device is the only system capable of imaging 4- and 8-page proofs on the same device and can easily handle full-flat contract proofing and oversized items such as posters and packaging. The Trendsetter can also image plates on the same device, ensuring unbeatable halftone fidelity between proof and press. Fujifilm TPM material supports this capability with three sizes: a traditional 4-page size (22” x 26”), a 4+ page material (22” x 30”) and full 8-page proof material (30” x 40”). Other FINALPROOF TPM features include: • two-sided halftone proofing, on press stock • qualified for Creo Staccatto 20 screening • pigment-based colors for consistency and stability • CMYK color set and four spot colors – red, green, orange and blue • no processing chemistry • renowned Fujifilm consistency, from proof to proof and box to box Fujifilm recently completed beta-testing, garnering tremendous results, and FINALPROOF TPM material will be commercially available August 1, 2003.
