Creo and GMG Announce Agreement

Press release from the issuing company

WATERLOO, BELGIUM -- July 17, 2003 -- Creo and GMG Weihing GmbH, a leading developer and marketer of high-end proffessional color management solutions in Germany, have entered into an agreement to develop new color management proofing solutions. The first product to be developed from this alliance will be a co-branded front-end to drive the new Creo Veris(tm) proofer. Field testing of the Veris proofer together with the GMG front-end will begin in August 2003. The Creo Veris proofer provides high-resolution proofs that set a new standard for inkjet proofing quality. Using the Multi-Drop Array(tm) inkjet head developed by Creo, the Veris proofer produces a controlled stream of precisely formed and placed drops at 1500 x 1500 dpi for high-quality, repeatable proofs that accurately predict the final printed job. The Veris proofer redefines state-of-the-art image quality, repeatability and predictability, especially when compared to other inkjet technologies that use larger drops of ink with less precision of placement. The front-end solution will be based on the GMG ColorProof system, consisting of a color engine, profile editor/creator, a RIP, and an output module for the Creo Veris proofer. The core element of GMG ColorProof is the 4-D color-transformation engine, which assures the highest possible contract proof quality on a variety of output devices. To calibrate the system, all standard color targets can be automatically measured using a spectrophotometer. With the ability to store four-dimensional color profiles, as well as use sophisticated linearization tools, the system is also highly suitable for remote-proofing applications. "Creo and GMG share the same ideas about the high-end proofing market of the future," says Brad Palmer, Creo Corporate Vice President, Inkjet Printing. "GMG has more than 10 years of experience integrating Creo Iris proofers, making it the de-facto standard in different segments of the graphic arts industry. This alliance brings inkjet proofing to an entirely new level, delivering unrivaled quality. The superiority of the GMG ColorProof application has been impressively proven in several recent digital proofing forums. Together with the Multi-Drop Array technology developed by Creo, the joint solution will redefine image quality, repeatability and predictability of digital contract proofing."
