activePDF Launches Desktop PDF Creation Tool

Press release from the issuing company

MISSION VIEJO, CA, Jul. 16, 2003 -- activePDF Inc, a leading provider of PDF creation, conversion and development tools for Windows NT, XP and 2000, today announced the launch of activePDF Composer, a desktop PDF creation tool that enables users to easily create and disseminate PDF files within the enterprise. PDF, or Portable Document Format, is a unique platform-independent file format that allows for precise representation of documents and is rapidly becoming the de facto standard for all electronic document distribution, storage and management. The many advantages of using PDF -- including portability, precise display and print control, cost-effectiveness and cross-platform compatibility -- translate into a faster, simpler and more affordable method of sharing, storing and printing business documents. Traditionally a leader in the server-based PDF solutions market, activePDF will branch out into the desktop space with next month's launch of activePDF Composer. The release of activePDF Maestro, a desktop PDF editing tool, will follow in Q4 of this year. Once available together, the products will be bundled and sold as activePDF Symphony. Using activePDF Composer is as easy as "printing" to PDF from any Windows application. activePDF Composer also streamlines the Postscript to PDF conversion process through drag-and-drop and 'Send to...PDF' functionality. Enhanced settings for Microsoft Word and PowerPoint enable the retention of original document structures such as bookmarks and hyperlinks, allowing business users to easily create intelligent PDF files. Additionally, activePDF Composer offers users full control over their PDF output through robust configuration settings, enabling optimization for commercial printing, printing to desktop devices or publishing on the web. "We are pleased to announce the upcoming launch of our desktop product line after having identified a great need and potential within the market segments we service for affordable yet reliable PDF creation and editing tools," stated Tim Sullivan, activePDF's CEO and founder. "The combination of our desktop and server-based products will enable activePDF to offer complete PDF solutions to corporate enterprise customers, while effectively catering to the SOHO and SME markets, whose users require basic PDF creation and editing functionalities, but at an affordable price." Suggested Retail Price: USD 79, EUR 79, GBP 50 (1 desktop license) Discounted pricing is available for volume and enterprise licensing as well as education and government clients. An introductory price of $59 per desktop license will be available for a limited time only.
