CGXmedia Chooses Pageflex .EDIT to Drive Internet-to-Print

Press release from the issuing company

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--July 14, 2003-- Pageflex Inc., a pioneer and leader of Web-top publishing, announces an agreement to license Pageflex .EDIT to CGXmedia, the Internet technology services provider for Consolidated Graphics. CGXmedia will offer the solution as a stand-alone package and also integrate .EDIT throughout Consolidated Graphics' 65 locations with COIN, its network for ordering, proofing, and tracking print purchases online. Pageflex .EDIT will allow CGXmedia users to customize templated designs according to rules and permissions set by design professionals. Users gain an interactive WYSIWYG experience directly through their familiar browser, without having to install and learn any new software. With .EDIT, CGXmedia expects immediate cost savings through reduced cycle time, Web-based softcopy proofing, and associated reductions in make-over. "We looked at a number of Web-to-print technologies, and Pageflex software clearly gave us more for our money," said Mohamad Tawil, production manager at CGXmedia COIN. ".EDIT is the most technologically advanced solution we found, and it will bring us big business wins by enabling us to pursue a variety of digital and offset print projects." To bring the benefits of .EDIT to corporations, designers create templates that capture their design vision and maintain corporate or brand identity by using approved fonts and images. These graphics professionals choose the specific editing capabilities to give users and can even lock portions of the template from any change at all. Authorized visitors to the .EDIT Web site interactively modify the text and images within the assigned permissions, customizing templates and documents in real time to meet their unique needs. Users can count on output that matches what they see online, since .EDIT uses the same Pageflex NuDoc composition engine and server-based fonts for both screen display and print output. "We are pleased to add Consolidated Graphics to the growing list of corporate customers that have recently adopted our Web-top publishing solution to drive down costs and improve customer service," said Pageflex General Manager David Frenkel. "Our new .EDIT workflows provide the next wave in productivity gains, which are crucial for a competitive edge in today's tight market."
