ICS Releases Basiccolor Monitor Calibration And ICC Profiling Package

Press release from the issuing company

New York, NY; July 1, 2003 -- Integrated Color Solutions, a leader in color management for color-critical applications, today released basICColor 2.5 Display with Instrument, a new high-precision yet affordable version of its monitor calibration and ICC profiling package that makes it easy for digital photographers, graphic designers and other graphics professionals to calibrate and profile their CRT and LCD computer monitors. ICS' new basICColor 2.5 Display with Instrument is a software/hardware package that combines easy-to-use display calibration and ICC profiling software with the basICColor monitor sensor. ICS basICColor Display with Instrument is the same software ICS uses to power its Remote Director system, which in January became the world's first SWOP(R)-certified display-based proofing system. Software features are easy to use basICColor 2.5 Display software features "Active Sensor Selection" to let creative professionals select any supported instrument dynamically from the menu bar to use with the software, and "Sensor Calibration" which makes it easy for users to calibrate each instrument from a simple routine on the menu bar. A new "Projection Profiling" feature also lets users project a complete screen of the color patch for measurement with a separate projection measurement device. Exclusive profiling and gamut compression Included with the software, the basICColor monitor sensor is a state-of-the-art emissive colorimeter for measuring both CRT and LCD displays to which ICS has added custom patent-pending 16-bit profiling and gamut compression techniques. The 16-bit profiles are more accurate because they contain a richer description of the monitor color space. The ICS gamut compression technique compresses saturated colors so that every shade is distinguishable, enabling the user to see better detail. "Along with the patented Light Tunnel and Pulse-Period technologies already built into the device, basICColor 2.5 Display with Instrument exceeds the measurement and profiling accuracy available from many high-end packages," says Dan Caldwell, Vice President of Operations. "Our new basICColor 2.5 Display with Instrument package gives creative professionals the precision monitor calibration and profiling tools they need to obtain accurate and consistent color, and at a price that makes high-quality color affordable," Caldwell adds. The basICColor 2.5 Display software and colorimeter package is available for Macintosh OS 9.6 and OS X; and for Windows 98, 2000, ME, and XP systems. Low price includes new site license The software is available immediately and can be purchased for a limited time from authorized ICS dealers at the discounted introductory MSRP of $199. The new software includes an unlimited site license allowing users to install the software on any number of workstations at a single location. A software-only package is also available at an MSRP of $149. basICColor 2.5 Display is one of several color management solutions available in the ICS basICColor line of products designed to take the guesswork out of matching color across different devices and to ensure scanners, monitors and printers communicate with the same high standard of color.
