Compose System Seals 5 Year OEM Agreement With Global Graphics Software

Press release from the issuing company

Cambridge UK; June 12, 2003 —Compose System has confirmed a further five-year OEM agreement with Global Graphics Software to license core software technologies which include the latest Harlequin RIP, with powerful trapping, screening and color management options, and the company’s Jaws PDF creation and editing technologies. Compose System has been a successful value-added reseller of the Harlequin RIP since 1992 and currently has over 10,000 ExpressRIP and Color Express installations worldwide interfacing to over 180 different output devices including imagesetters, platesetters, color copiers, digital printers, color proofers, large format printers and inkjet printers. The ExpressRIP lies at the heart of the company’s new modular workflow manager, Express WorkFlow which can be configured to suit a variety of production environments. Global Graphics’ continuing development of innovative production software, which is based on a common underlying architecture enabling tight integration within a broad range of technologies, is the reason why Compose has renewed its license with the company. Under the agreement Global Graphics will provide components which form the core of Compose RIP and workflow systems. These include the Harlequin RIP - Eclipse Release for both Windows NT and Macintosh OSX platforms; the new TrapPro trapping solution; Harlequin Error Diffusion screening technology; and ColorPro and SetGoldPro plug-in utilities for the Harlequin RIP which provide easy to use and implement color control for accurate proofing and printing applications. For the first time Compose has also licensed Global Graphics Jaws PDF technologies which will enable the company to integrate efficient and flexible PDF creation and management into their RIP and workflow solutions. These include Jaws PDF Creator and Jaws PDF Editor, plus Jaws PDF Server to manage PDF creation in a multi-user environment. “Global Graphics continues to develop a range of production modules which are key to our business”, says Tom Sit, managing director, Compose System. “The Harlequin RIP has become the industry standard for production performance and it continues to evolve in flexibility and sophistication to keep pace with the variety and high level of production demands the industry needs today. On the PDF front Global Graphics has developed a range of cost-effective tools. Ultimately, Global Graphics are important technology partners and work closely with us to help us deliver consistently excellent products to the market. “
