Smith Bucklin Selects Kinko's as Convention Printing Partner, 400 Events

WASHINGTON, June 12 -- At the Springtime 2003 association industry trade show here today, Kinko's, Inc. announced that Chicago-based Smith, Bucklin & Associates, Inc. (Smith Bucklin) has selected Kinko's as its primary document outsourcing partner. Kinko's Convention Solutions group consulted with Smith Bucklin -- the world's largest association management and professional services company -- to deliver a new custom print outsourcing model based on the company's total annual print volume and the unique demands of its industry. The new approach frees Smith Bucklin's meeting planners from the time-consuming task of managing separate printing bids for each of the company's more than 400 events. "Centralizing Smith Bucklin's print purchasing through Kinko's will save us substantial time and money, enhancing our ability to drive growth and build sustained competitiveness for our clients," said Lisa Elliott, director of Smith Bucklin's education and program division. "Kinko's convenient locations, flexibility and fast turnaround times will reduce the time we spend worrying about the frequent, and often last-minute, changes inherent in printed conference materials." "Meeting planners are adept at outsourcing wisely to stay focused and deliver the best value. Kinko's Convention Solutions enables Smith Bucklin to apply this principle in a new way," said Debbie Nunez, Kinko's convention account manager. "Our extensive presence near or at convention destinations enables Kinko's to efficiently serve the needs of meeting and convention planners, as well as provide for the printing needs of attendees and exhibitors." Kinko's will provide full-service production of Smith Bucklin's on- location meeting materials, such as binders, speaker handouts and signage. Materials may be produced near-site at Kinko's locations or, as needed, at on- site facilities managed by Kinko's. Through the Smith Bucklin intranet, meeting planners will soon access Kinko's DocStore, a scalable online document catalog, ordering and printing solution customized to Smith Bucklin's needs. Established pricing will enable Smith Bucklin's staff to quickly develop accurate budgets, place the order immediately upon approval, and specify printing location and delivery method. In addition to serving Smith Bucklin's U.S. needs, Kinko's will also support events across Kinko's global network, which includes the United Kingdom and Japan.
