June 4, 2003 -- VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--Creo announced today that Microsoft Corporation has signed a license agreement, under which Creo grants Microsoft a license to use its patented automatic trapping technology, as part of Microsoft Publisher software. The automatic trapping technology, developed by Creo, is a decision-based expert system for eliminating separation-registration errors in color printing. This technology is protected by Creo patents in the United States and worldwide. "Microsoft joins a number of leading companies in the graphic arts industry that have licensed Creo's automatic trapping technology," said Dan Gelbart, chief technology officer of Creo. "This is more recognition of the quality of the Creo patented automatic trapping technology, which is also included in our leading Prinergy(R) and Brisque(R) prepress workflow management systems." The terms of the license were undisclosed. The one-time license fee received by Creo will not have a material impact on its financial results.
