KBA Takes 45 North American Printers to Open House in Germany

May 27, 2003: Williston, VT.: KBA North America, a leading sheetfed offset press manufacturer, hosted forty-five printers from the United States and Canada for a visit to its world headquarters in Dresden, Germany for a four-day visit and tour in late May to see the latest trends and new technologies in sheetfed offset printing. The main attraction was a KBA Rapida 105 41” press with ten printing units and perfector. Four different print jobs were printed on the press. The second demonstration utilized hybrid technology on a six-color Rapida 105 with coating tower and extended delivery. Large-format printing wasdemonstrated on a Rapida 142 56” press with five printing units and coatingfacilities printing a brochure and a packaging form with FM screening. The final demonstration was a four-page work-and-turn job on the digital offset 74 Karat with integrated coater. “We believe in demonstrating KBA technology directly to our customers and showing them that our plant is focusing on the North American market,” says Ralf Sammeck, President and CEO of KBA North America. “We’re building presses with the latest technology to ensure that our customers remain competitive and set them apart from their competition.” Later that evening, KBA and its printer guests gathered in front of the Albrechtsberg Palace on the Elbe River and boarded a historic paddle steamer. The riverboat cruise included live music and dinner.
