Oce VarioStream 7000: Quality leap in high speed range

Press release from the issuing company

Poing, 21 May 2003—With more than 150 customer installations worldwide so far, the digital continuous feed printing system Oce VarioStream 7000 introduced in November 2002 has already established itself on the market. The high-performance printers are in continuous and reliable use at companies in all market segments such as banks, insurance and telecommunication companies, mailers and the graphic arts industry. In time for the OpenHouse 2003, Océ is now introducing a new phase: The second development stage of the Océ VarioStream 7000 provides even more performance at maximum quality thanks to the "Enhanced Print Quality Option". The new, patented technology for toner transfer achieves a new standard in printing quality. And—this highest standard of printing quality is now also available at high speeds. Whilst maximum productivity at the highest quality level was around 700 A4 pages per minute, the second generation VarioStream now manages 1000 pages in the same time, increasing productivity by nearly one and a half times. As of August, the first Océ customers will be profiting from the Enhanced Print Quality Option. Above all, companies in the graphic arts industry can achieve decisive competitive advantages for Print on Demand. Thanks to the customer-friendly upgrading concept, each VarioStream can be upgraded in the field to guarantee protection of investment.   Tried and tested These high performance printers have already proven their capabilities everywhere where customers place the highest demands on deadlines and productivity, for example at the companies ICS in Germany, PBS in Denmark and Fratelli Pozzoni in Italy. There, the VarioStream fulfils every demand such as high-volume printing of individual customer data (account statements) or—until now—difficult printing of light paper as in loose-leaf collections. Océ CustomTone is also in particular demand among customers. The VarioStream only requires short set-up times in order to print spot and corporate colours.   Customers increase productivity and flexibility and profit from reliability In Italy, Fratelli Pozzoni, providers of services in direct marketing use two Océ VarioStream 7650 Twins with 1200 ppm for printing lottery tickets. A company of Gruppo Pozzoni, the third largest printers in Italy, Fratelli Pozzoni was able to achieve a considerable increase in production using the Océ VarioStream systems: the two systems with 1200 A4 pages each are used for lottery tickets which have to be produced with strict adherence to deadlines and in extremely high volumes. Productivity and reliability at the highest level are key aspects for Pozzoni. Océ has been able to fulfil these demands. In Denmark, IT service providers PBS (Danish Payment Systems) also rely on the new VarioStream technology. PBS was able to increase productivity of existing transaction print orders by up to 50 % using the VarioStream 7650 CX. Thanks to the flexibility and printing quality of the system, PBS is now also in a position to approach new market segments in the PoD sector and the graphic arts industry.   The Océ Vario product family The Océ Vario product series unifies on one platform the capabilities of the successful Pagestream (transaction printing) and Demandstream (PoD) families. A particular feature of the VarioStream 7000 series is its unique flexibility. If the printing volume increases, upgrading is possible at the customer site. In addition, different applications, eg black/white, colour or even MICR can be printed on the same machine without any lengthy conversion times.
