Dalim Software launches real-time, web-based DALiM FiCELLE ProPack

Press release from the issuing company

May 12, 2003 -- Kehl, Germany: Following the success of DALiM FiCELLE, Dalim Software’s web-based, collaborative production workflow tracking system for publishers and their prepress and printer partners, the company has launched ‘DALiM FiCELLE ProPack’, aimed at those within the packaging supply chain. DALiM FiCELLE ProPack unites the whole production chain, including retailers, designers, prepress and printers, in a shared workflow via the Internet within a secure environment for the streamlined communication, tracking, administration and approval of packaging jobs. It allows all those involved in the production process to have access to real time information and a ‘view’ from any location within one, fully customizable interface. The system is designed to suit the specific requirements of packaging where the production workflow is characterized by numerous labor-intensive tasks that have to be completed to a high level of quality and color integrity. Users can view their jobs on screen with clear, dynamically updated file status and, if required, the job can be viewed at larger size and in detailed resolution PDF files giving the most up-to-date information possible. DALiM FiCELLE is an extension of the leading DALiM TWiST production automation system that works with web application software to provide instant access to the complete production status of a packaging job through a standard web browser. Information is accessed from a database and published over a secure website in a form that varies depending upon the user login. Its JDBC compliance allows data to be fed into an accounting and management information system if desired. Its ability to be seamlessly integrated with a company’s existing SAP system makes DALiM FiCELLE ProPack a powerful business component for packaging enterprises. Based on open standards DALiM FiCELLE allows complete integration with a company’s existing workflow system and is easily configured to suit the individual requirements of all partners of the production chain. “The specifiers and producers of packaging are under increasing pressure to reduce turnaround times and production costs,” says Dr. Carol Werlé, Chief Executive Officer, Dalim Software. “In a consumer-driven market where rapid time to market is critical, systems which can increase efficiency and accelerate production, plus improve quality, are important. The deadline and quality issues paramount within publishing are the same within the packaging industry which made the development of FiCELLE ProPack a natural step and one which has been welcomed by the sector.” The first DALiM FiCELLE ProPack has already been installed by ALCAN Packaging at its flexible packaging prepress and gravure engraving site in Teningen, Germany. The facility serves blue chip retail customers and printers worldwide, including Marks & Spencer, Danone, Bayer and Nestle; companies that are all embracing the multiple benefits that web-based procedures can bring to their businesses. Commenting on the reason behind its investment, Albert Scheffer, Director Shared Service Centre Prepress, at ALCAN said “In order to increase efficiency, streamline production, reduce wastage and ultimately offer an improved customer service, we needed to introduce a secure workflow communications solution. DALiM FiCELLE is the only system that has the level of customization, flexibility and security to handle the challenge.”
