T/R Systems and Ricoh Connect MicroPress X Series to Aficio 1060 & 1075

Press release from the issuing company

ATLANTA--May 1, 2003-- T/R SYSTEMS, INC., a leader in developing innovative solutions for the management and production of digital documents, and Ricoh Corporation, a provider of leading-edge printing technologies, announced today the availability of T/R Systems' MicroPress X Series document production servers for use with Ricoh's high-volume Aficio 1060 and 1075 black & white Digital Imaging Systems. T/R Systems' innovative MicroPress X Series is at the heart of Ricoh's print-on-demand (POD) solution. The MicroPress is a document production server for POD customers that bridges the gap between low-volume workgroup printing and high-volume centralized printing. By combining powerful document "make-ready" capabilities and advanced job management with advanced workflow tools and unique print device connectivity options, the MicroPress X Series provides customers with a scalable production printing system. The MicroPress X Series includes the MicroPress SX, DX and MX models, each of which addresses a different segment of the POD market from low- to high-volume. The Aficio 1060 is a 60 page per minute printer/copier that offers 1200 dpi resolution. The Aficio 1075 printer/copier offers uninterrupted workflow and productivity at 75 pages per minute with a 1200 dpi resolution, and can be configured with an optional removable hard drive for protection of classified and confidential information. Both systems offer professional finishing capabilities including cover stock, tab extension copying, chapters, collating, numbering, stamping, saddle-stitching and hole punching, and both are ideal for the networked office, central reprographics department and POD environments. The MicroPress X Series supports the widest breadth of Ricoh products targeted to the POD environment, including the Aficio 551, 700, 1085 and 1105 black and white Digital Imaging Systems, all of which offer outstanding production-level image quality, with superior document finishing capabilities, including two- and three-hole punching and multi-position stapling. In addition, connectivity is available for the Aficio Color 3800 and 6513 Digital Imaging Systems. The MicroPress X Series will soon include connectivity to the new Aficio 2090 and 2105 systems. "We are pleased to offer broader MicroPress connectivity within the Ricoh product family," said Michael Kohlsdorf, president and CEO of T/R Systems. "These powerful new devices coupled with the MicroPress offer very robust capabilities to meet the unique needs of a broad set of POD customers." "The MicroPress' advanced document management capabilities combined with the award winning Aficio Digital Imaging Systems position Ricoh to meet our customer's requirements in the Production Environment," said Kirk Yoshida, chairman and CEO of Ricoh Corporation. The MicroPress X Series/Aficio 1060/1075 solution will be available beginning in May 2003 through select Ricoh Corporation dealers and direct sales locations.
