Creo HyperFlex Earns 2003 GATF InterTech Technology Award

Press release from the issuing company

VANCOUVER, British Columbia-- July 25, 2003--Creo Inc. is proud to announce that its HyperFlex(TM) flexographic screening solution has been honored with a 2003 InterTech(TM) Technology Award from the Graphic Arts Technical Foundation (GATF). Established in 1978, this award recognizes excellence in innovative technology for the graphic communications industry. This is the ninth GATF InterTech award won by Creo. "We are extremely pleased that HyperFlex was recognized by the GATF. This screening solution will allow packaging trade shops and converters to more successfully deliver high-impact packaging, in a streamlined and efficient way," states Mark Maldeghem, product manager for Creo packaging workflow. HyperFlex screening makes flexographic presswork more predictable, reliable and consistent. It reduces the amount of file customization and adjustments normally required to get around the unpredictable rendering of highlights. HyperFlex also brings quality benefits to the final printed package, which is of interest to packaging print buyers and consumer product companies. Several users have already expressed their positive experiences with the new technology: "We see great potential in this new technology," says Anthony Masotti of New York Label. "Analysis of flexo plates output using HyperFlex software reveal improved halftone dot structure. The concept makes total sense-you're not just eliminating dots, you're also helping the remaining dots stay strong and durable. We expect that this technology will help us raise the quality bar even further." "HyperFlex allows us to consider images that were once believed inappropriate for the flexo process," says Al Bowers of Banta Digital Group. "The technology allows us to lengthen vignettes without losing isolated highlight dots, and the platemaking process requires no special attention. HyperFlex saves time in file preparation as well."
