John Roberts Installs Heidelberg XL 105 six-color UV press

Press release from the issuing company

July 8, 2007 -- The John Roberts Company, a full-service web, sheetfed, UV and digital printing company, has just completed installation of a Heidelberg XL 105 six-color UV press. The new press, rated at 18,000 sheets per hour, will be the company's second six-color UV press and fourth sheetfed press with six or more colors.
The XL 105 UV at John Roberts marks one of the first North American installations of this recently introduced press. It includes a host of features designed to make UV print production faster and more consistent. On the front end, the Prinect CP2000 press management console automates setup of the feeder, press units, delivery and dryer to minimize makeready times. Job settings for repeating projects can be stored and retrieved instantly for even greater setup efficiency.
On the back end, the DryStar 3000 UV dryers are fully integrated into both the printing unit and delivery. Both the inking and drying units are kept cool to facilitate consistent UV ink flow and optimum curing. The press can handle a wide variety of substrates, including paperboard, thin plastics and film, giving designers plenty of creative choices for products such as brochures, catalogs, pocket folders, book covers, high-end direct mail and consumer packaging.
Todd Nibbe, Sheetfed Pressroom Manager at John Roberts, says the new XL 105 UV press will further enhance the company's UV printing capabilities for customers with commercial printing or consumer packaging applications.
"Presses such as this are a big reason why UV printing has become much more popular the past few years," said Nibbe. "End users love the higher gloss and brighter colors that UV printing provides. And, as one of the most advanced UV presses in the marketplace, the XL 105 has almost no limitations on speed, versatility and quality."
Tony Hoholik, V.P. of Sales and Marketing for John Roberts, added that the new press installation is in keeping with the company's promise to customers of continual advancement and reinvestment.
"Our customers can count on us for industry-leading service in all facets of the print production process," said Hoholik. "In the past year, we have invested in the futures of our customers and our company by earning FSC Chain-of-Custody and EPA Green Power Partner certifications for environmental stewardship. Likewise, the installation of the Heidelberg XL 105 UV press represents an investment in technology that will help our customers grow their businesses."
