R.R. Donnelley Expands Printing Operations, Three New Gravure Presses

CHICAGO, April 21 -- As part of its strategy to create the most effective, integrated and flexible printing platform for its customers, R.R. Donnelley is expanding its printing operations in Lancaster, Pa., and Spartanburg, SC. The expansions are part of the company's 2003 capital spending plan of approximately $250 million, aimed primarily at strengthening the company's print capabilities. -- The Lancaster expansion includes a 140,000 square-foot addition, a new wide web gravure press and associated equipment. The expansion and equipment will be fully operational in early 2005. This facility produces magazines, catalogs, retail inserts, telephone directories and financial products. -- The Spartanburg expansion includes a 150,000 square-foot addition, two new wide web gravure presses and associated equipment. The expansion and equipment will be fully operational by mid-2003. This facility produces magazines, catalogs and retail inserts. All three highly automated printing presses will enable R.R. Donnelley to provide its customers with more flexibility, shortened cycle times and greater targeting capabilities.
