AVT Printvision/Apollo: 100% Quality Assurance for Finishing Equipment

Press release from the issuing company

Chicago, April 14, 2003 – The PrintVision/Apollo is a solution for 100% Quality Assurance from press through post-press stages, that enables packaging printers to create a total QA solution, from surface detection through the printing, lamination and slitting processes. Designed with in-depth knowledge of the printing industry and its challenges, the PrintVision/Apollo helps printers deliver a full quality certified product to customers while maintaining competitiveness in the market. The PrintVision/Apollo is a versatile tool that can be used on rewinders or other finishing equipment to inspect all packaging substrates, as well as on flexo or gravure presses. Ease of Operation – On Press or Finishing Line The PrintVision/Apollo is designed for simple, automatic operation with minimal operator intervention. The PrintVision/Apollo’s black-and-white, or color LCCD camera detects all printing defects as well as other faults or damage incurred after printing. Alerting the operator (by visual and/or audio alarm) is only part of the PrintVision/Apollo solution. When a defect is detected, the warning light shows amber for a minor fault, or red if it’s a major fault. The defect is displayed on the monitor with a graphic box aro und it to aid inspection. The image can be zoomed in on for detailed analysis. Additionally, a color-coded screen background classifies the fault for the operator. Faults are recorded in a roll report showing where the defect began, where it ended, what the fault type was, and in what lane it occurred. An option for tab insertion to mark the reel is also available to aid removal of waste at the finishing stage. This provision of a detailed defect report provides documentary evidence of the quality of the delivered job. Such documentation is a major benefit to both the printer and his customer. When mounted on a rewinder or other finishing equipment, the PrintVision/Apollo, in addition to detecting all printing defects, can also find finishing faults including mis-applied glue, creases, bubbles in lamination and other physical damage. In addition to these benefits, packaging printers can now have confidence that process and random faults will be detected and that those faults are documented to ensure delivery of only the highest quality packaging materials. AVT solutions have a worldwide reputation for operator-friendly interfaces and ease of operation. With short set-up times, and minimal operator intervention during a run, the PrintVision/Apollo is an efficient tool to ensure quality delivery to customers. It also will maintain the printer’s position as quality provider, ensuring customer satisfaction and loyalty.
