15,000th ROLAND 700 printing unit delivered to Japan

Press release from the issuing company

April 14, 2003 -- The success story of the ROLAND 700 started some thirteen years ago. Now the 15,000th printing unit of the medium-format press from MAN Roland has been delivered to Japan. It is part of a five-colour machine with coating module for processing UV coating, ordered by the Toyouke packaging printing company in Kawasaki city. It will be installed at their factory in Yamanashi Prefecture, located in a very picturesque area close to Mt. Fuji. Toyouke in Yamanashi a specialist for packaging and displays The company with about 50 employees specializes in gift and souvenir packaging as well as sales promotional displays. For the past three or so years, this production work has been carried out with great success on a ROLAND 700 with coating module. When the growing order volume -particularly in the area of products with UV coating - made it necessary to expand the machinery, it was clear for those responsible at Toyouke that they would invest in a press of the same line and with the same configuration. The order was complemented to include the Multi CCI 2D system for ink measuring. It enables measuring on any desired part of the sheet. Therefore, print control strips can be placed in a space-saving way anywhere on the sheet - with direct measuring in the image, they are not even needed at all. ROLAND 700 successful worldwide for the past 13 years Since its premiere at drupa 1990, the ROLAND 700 has gradually developed into one of MAN Roland's most successful sheet-fed presses. Its success is based on perfected technology and a high degree of automation - the latter ever increasing in importance as run lengths are decreasing. Its enormous productivity and versatility make this press a universal system for print shops of every type. Constantly advanced in design, the ROLAND 700 is as much up to date today as it was at its market introduction. New technical features have been added again and again, increasing its capacity and productivity. Among the more recent technological milestones are the AirGlide delivery which, with gentle sheet guiding, ensures accurate piles even at high speeds, or the Quick- Change Coating System enabling rapid change between aqueous dispersion and UV coatings. Further enhancement of the machine's productivity has resulted from the automated non-stop delivery permitting automatic pile change during the run, the InlineSorter which eliminates waste before it can reach the delivery, or the inline sheeter for processing material from the roll. And only recently the configurational variety of the ROLAND 700 has been increased again. The press can now be ordered also with up to 12 colours as a perfector for 6/6 operation and as a nine-colour model plus coating module or a ten-colour version with double coating module. The press design newly introduced during IPEX 2002 expresses the ever up-to-date press concept. Preferred configuration: five colours with coating The ROLAND 700 currently produces in more than 80 countries around the world, many presses working in packaging printing companies in Western Europe. In the Far East, too, the ROLAND 700 is getting more and more popular. About 50 per cent of the presses are delivered with coating module. Toyouke's five-colour press with coating module shows the printer fully in the trend. This configuration has been most frequently ordered so far.
