AVT Launches A New Range Of Systems At CMM

Press release from the issuing company

Chicago, April 14, 2003 – Advanced Vision Technology (AVT) has chosen CMM International to unveil its all-new approach to process control solutions for automatic web inspection. The "New Era" PrintVision/Jupiter is AVT's most significant platform enhancement since the company adopted Windows NT as its standard in 1998. PrintVision/Jupiter offers printers a scalable solution that provides all the capabilities of AVT's highly successful PrintVision process control systems, while significantly expanding both performance and potential. A New Era – Inside and Out The real power at the heart of the PrintVision/Jupiter is in its advanced software module. This makes the PrintVision/Jupiter a unique process control solution for all standard and wide web applications, combining – and going beyond – the known capabilities of the AVT PrintVision/Genesis and PrintVision/Pro platforms. The PrintVision/Jupiter presents a new approach of instructed workflow user interface that enables quicker set-up and operation. PrintVision/Jupiter’s software module introduces advanced automatic inspection capabilities and tools while presenting a simplified, intuitive control. PrintVision/Jupiter is automated, helping printers assure an efficient and optimal operation while maintaining the standards they specify. When operator intervention is needed, during set-up or an error alert, for example, PrintVision/Jupiter is designed to make the interaction as simple, short and effective as possible. With step-by-step guided workflow, PrintVision/Jupiter is operated intuitively when needed. With PrintVision/Jupiter, operators enjoy the benefits of the improved, ergonomic design and intuitive workflow. The availability of both LCD and CRT monitors in various sizes enables printers to choose the optimum viewing solution for their applications, space availability and press configuration. Initial installations of the PrintVision/Jupiter were completed in Europe and the United States during the first quarter of 2003. First results indicate immediate acceptance and enthusiastic feedback from customers. Upgrades of existing PrintVision Platforms to the PrintVision/Jupiter solution will be available as well. "PrintVision/Jupiter is a result of our continuing dialog with printers around the world," says Koby Shtaierman, AVT Vice President, Marketing and Sales. “It reflects AVT’s broad understanding of the industry's trends and challenges, and our ability to deliver advanced solutions through our large, focused R&D team, that answer the industry’s needs. This commitment to the industry has resulted in systems that offer printers and converters the most comprehensive range of process control and quality assurance solutions in the world." Mr. Shtaierman details – point by point – how AVT has applied its technology leadership to the development of its new generation of solutions in direct response to the specific requests that printers have made for sophisticated features that meet their expanding needs: • Request for even better color defect detection. PrintVision/Jupiter delivers: More accurate, more reliable. Plus: I?Eal – Delta E based color measurements and defect detection with Intra Repeat feature for package-to-package comparison. • Request for an in-line “snapshot” of latest defects. PrintVision/Jupiter delivers: The operator can call up a log of the defects with the new defect history feature. • Request for immediate view of the whole repeat. PrintVision/Jupiter delivers: With the new job map feature, printers can call up on-screen instantly, for a faster set-up and camera movement and better image orientation. • Request for faster, more effective quality threshold settings. PrintVision/Jupiter delivers: Presto! All defect thresholds are now in one window, with a powerful “save as default” feature. • Request for more user-friendliness. PrintVision/Jupiter delivers: Workflow-oriented icons intuitively guide the operator through each action step by step, showing him only the relevant icon-tools. • Request for easier, speeded-up interaction. PrintVision/Jupiter delivers: A newly designed human interface. Guided by simple icon-based instructions, press operators swiftly perform set-up and operation.
