Kodak Customer Datachrome Inc. Earns Grand Gutenberg Award for Second Straight Year

Monday, July 09, 2007

Press release from the issuing company

ROCHESTER, N.Y., July 3 -- The jury of Les Artisans des Arts Graphiques de Montréal awarded its Grand Gutenberg 2007 Award to Datachrome Inc. at the 25th edition of gala Gutenberg held recently in Montreal, Québec. Datachrome, the first two time winner of this prestigious award, won for its Yanick Dery Photographer Promo Catalogue.
In awarding its grand prize, the jury emphasized the exceptional rigorousness that Datachrome demonstrated in printing and finishing this demanding work. The catalog is full of details, with numerous images that feature flamboyant colors, and was printed with stochastic screening technology.
“We knew that we could trust KODAK CTP Solutions to help us deliver exceptional, award winning work to our clients,” said James Ronald, President, Datachrome. “Our dedicated team was comfortable knowing that quality output was expected and would be delivered using KODAK STACCATO Screening.”
Datachrome’s award winning entry features imagery reproduced with the on press photographic fidelity provided by 10 micron KODAK STACCATO Halftone Screening Technology. STACCATO Screening produces high fidelity, artifact free images that exhibit fine detail and more impactful color in presswork. STACCATO Screening creates images without halftone rosettes, screening moiré, gray level limitations, or abrupt jumps in tone—with no impact on RIPing or rendering time. KODAK SQUARESPOT Thermal Imaging Technology enables the fine dot structure of STACCATO Screening to be a reliable and practical solution for everyday printing and an effective competitive edge for commercial, newspaper, and packaging printers. Datachrome also utilizes the KODAK TRENDSETTER 800 QUANTUM Platesetter.
“Awards like this are important because they provide validation of the outstanding work that our customers produce for their clients,” said Kevin Joyce, Managing Director, United States and Canada, Kodak’s Graphic Communications Group. “We salute Datachrome on receiving this high honor.”
Datachrome Inc., founded in 1991, specializes in prepress and high definition printing in its Laval plant in Québec.
