Tuesday, April 08, 2003
NEW YORK--April 7, 2003-- Xerox Corporation and Electronics For Imaging today announced a significant expansion of their current collaboration on advanced workflow solutions for the digital print market. Under the strategic partnership agreement, EFI and Xerox will create end-to-end, collaborative workflow solutions to connect printers and customers more efficiently, resulting in increased productivity, reduced costs and enhanced customer service. By combining their industry-leading technologies, Xerox and EFI will offer print providers powerful and seamless solutions to facilitate the industry's growing adoption of digital printing technologies. Today's announcement signifies a new collaborative effort that extends well beyond current joint solutions like the new Fiery Q4500 server for the DocuColor iGen3(TM) Digital Production Press; new proofing and emulation capabilities for the iGen3; and EFI's Velocity(TM) workflow for the Xerox DocuTech family of production printers. These products can be seen at the EFI and Xerox booths, respectively, at the On Demand trade show at the Jacob Javits Center here this week. Future products will integrate technologies to create seamless, end-to-end workflow solutions that interface with Xerox's Open Production Print Controller for current and future Xerox digital printers and presses. "In today's competitive marketplace, print providers need increasing levels of productivity and more affordable costs," said Gil Hatch, president, Xerox Production Systems Group. "The tight integration of Xerox and EFI technologies will yield compelling new solutions that will enable print providers to run more successful and profitable businesses." "EFI's commitment to open architecture and seamless interoperability complements Xerox's open strategy to develop scaleable, end-to-end workflow solutions for production class printers," said Guy Gecht, CEO of EFI. "Under this strategic agreement, we will bring to market products that will help high volume printers become more successful by reducing the cost of doing business through increased automation while enhancing customer satisfaction through higher quality output." Automating digital workflow processes-- from procurement to prepress to printing-- is a strategic market thrust for both companies as production printers seek to become more competitive. By opening their architectures, Xerox and EFI will further integrate their offerings to create more powerful, robust and automated workflow solutions for customers.
