Xeikon America Demonstrates Production Printing System At On Demand

Press release from the issuing company

New York City, April 7, 2003 – Xeikon America announces today that it is demonstrating the DCP 500 D at the On Demand Expo, booth # 2634. The annual expo will be held this week in the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City. The DCP 500 D, the world’s fastest and the only 20” wide digital color press, will feature OmniVac, the new Q-pack upgrade and the new IntelliStream 3.6 front-end. These product upgrades will further position the Xeikon presses as the preferred choice for professional digital color printing applications. Xeikon’s customers increased their average monthly print volume to 227,500 pages per press, an increase of 17% compared to last year. Several printers, producing direct mail applications and book covers, routinely produce over 1 million pages per press per month. “We are very pleased with the continuing success of our customers,” says Ivan C. Verheye, Xeikon America’s president and CEO, “Our focus is squarely on service and pricing plans and on product upgrades that help our customers become even more competitive. OmniVac, Q-pack and the new IntelliStream 3.6 are only the latest examples of this strategy.” The DCP 500 D features Xeikon’s unique One-Pass Duplex printing and produces 138 pages per minute. At the show, the press will be producing posters, one-to-one marketing material and personalized brochures. OmniVac is an air treatment system that improves cleaning of corona wires and drums. Installing OmniVac results in longer maintenance intervals and longer lifetimes for certain critical usage parts. The Q-pack upgrade aims to overcome printing characteristics such as banding and ghosting, which are often considered typical for digital color printing. In addition, overall image quality will be more consistent. IntelliStream 3.6 increases the ease-of-use and professional operation of the Xeikon presses. This new version features 30% faster processing and extended support for PPML and PPML/VDX, and adds support for ICC profiles and real-time adjustment of calibration and dot gain curves.
