OPserver Introduces Flexpod For Print On Demand Environments

Press release from the issuing company

BOSTON, MA – MARCH 31, 2003 -- OPserver, Inc., a leading developer of enterprise output management systems, today announced the introduction of FlexPOD, a measurement and tracking system that provides workflow and management reporting for multi-PDL environments. By controlling and tracking workflow from start to finish, FlexPOD allows print shops to improve efficiency while gaining greater accountability over printing costs. With FlexPOD, print shops can even create customized management reports that address their own specific operations needs, including reports on costs, inventory management, and printer and personnel scheduling. FlexPOD was originally developed by OPserver for Fidelity Investments. Looking to optimize its printing operations in its centralized mail processing business unit, Fidelity asked OPserver to come up with a technology product that would facilitate intelligent routing and tracking of on-demand print jobs for cut-sheet printers located across multiple geographical sites. “Print on demand environments present their own set of challenges,” said James Scott, senior vice president of Systems, in Fidelity Wide Processing. “Because we deal with extremely complex output, we needed a system that would help us keep all of our jobs running properly and on time. With its ability to forecast, schedule and track many jobs at once, FlexPOD gives us greater control over the management of our daily workflow, which in turn helps us to better serve our customers.” “FlexPOD takes the guesswork out of matching multiple jobs to multiple printers by giving print managers the information they need to get the most out of their printers when assigning the day’s jobs,” said David Birdsall, president of OPserver. “Idle and overtaxed printers are major obstacles to running efficient operations. The FlexPOD technology helps to ensure that print managers are utilizing all of their printing resources in the most effective way.” Additionally, FlexPOD’s unique reporting tool serves as a vital link from print shop to customer. “FlexPOD provides our customers with the information they need about their print jobs,” continued Scott. “Its unique reporting capability allows complex job data and statistics to be converted into meaningful and useful information for our customers.” With companies looking for the flexibility to print what they want, when they want it, at an affordable cost, Print on Demand environments are becomingly increasingly more common. OPserver’s FlexPOD is essential to helping print shops meet the growing needs of their clients, while maximizing the efficiencies of their own operations in today’s cost-conscious environment.
