Screen (USA) Announces 1,000th Trueflow Installation

Press release from the issuing company

ROLLING MEADOWS, Ill. --March 31, 2003-- Screen USA today announced the 1,000th installation of Screen’s Trueflow PDF workflow management system. This major milestone in the company’s long history came only three years after the introduction of Trueflow at Drupa 2000. Installed at Zelsman Kampen in the Netherlands, Trueflow forms the core of the high-end printing company’s prepress production system. To create a total “Power CTP” workflow and further enhance productivity, Zelsman Kampen also added its first computer-to-plate (CTP) system, featuring Screen’s high-speed PlateRite 8000II eight-up thermal platesetter with multi-cassette autoloader. In addition, Zelsman Kampen installed Spekta, the groundbreaking hybrid halftone screening technology. Trueflow is an open and intelligent system that leverages the efficiency of PDF and the power of the Internet. Trueflow brings together an array of features in a single workflow solution package, including job management, PDF trapping, enhanced network connectivity, web approval of pages and imposed flats, and connectivity to different output devices. Trueflow handles all popular file formats at input, including PDF 1.3, PDF 1.4 and PostScript. Output file formats include Outline PDF, Outline EPS, RIP’ed PDF, RIP’ed PostScript and 1-bit TIFF files for fast data transfer, and output to proofers, imagesetters, platesetters and digital presses. Trueflow also supports Internet-based communication between printers and their customers, streamlining the process of job submission, tracking and proofing. Zelsman Kampen, part of the Zelsman Grafische group of print and packaging companies in Holland, produces high-quality posters, brochures and annual reports. It typically operates its presses around the clock, five days a week. Zelsman Kampen cited high production demand and the need to improve quality as the main reasons behind its invesent in a totally digital workflow. The company selected Trueflow because it handled demanding test jobs with ease and for its web browser interface. Using Trueflow, incoming jobs in multiple file format jobs are preflighted, normalized and automatically converted into Certified PDF for output to an existing Screen DT-R 3100 imagesetter, the new PlateRite 8000II or other companies within the Zelsman Grafische group.
