Coates Screen First Ink MFG To Earn SGIA Environmental Award

FORT LEE, NJ - March 21, 2003 - Coates Screen USA, based in St. Charles, Illinois and a division of Sun Chemical Corporation, received a 2003 Environmental Recognition Award from the Screenprinting & Graphic Imaging Association (SGIA) International. Coates Screen became the first ink manufacturer to earn this prestigious award. "We are proud that the SGIA selected us to receive this honor," said Barry Marshall, President, Coates Screen USA. "It confirms our efforts to be an industry leader not only in quality, but as a responsible corporate citizen concerned about the environment." Coates Screen, one of the worldís top producers of screen inks, was honored with the award due to the registration of its Environmental Management Systems to the ISO14001 standard and the success of company wide efforts to reduce its impact on the environment. SGIA Internationalís Environmental Achievement Award is presented to companies that maintain Environmental Management Systems and can show positive results from specific environmental improvement initiatives. The group has recognized nine companies over the past three years. Only one other manufacturer, in addition to Coates Screen, has earned the honor. The SGIA will honor this yearís award recipients at the National Environmental Health and Safety Conference on March 24 in Lexington, Kentucky.
