Global Graphics launches Jaws PDF Library COM Edition

Press release from the issuing company

Cambridge, UK -- March 18, 2003 -- Jaws PDF Library COM Edition, a software development kit (SDK) which allows developers, OEMs and systems integrators on the Windows platform to embed robust and efficient Portable Document Format (PDF) generation seamlessly within desktop, and server-based products, services, workflows and third-party solutions is launched today by Global Graphics Software. A subsidiary of Global Graphics SA (Nasdaq Europe: GLGR, Euronext: GLOG), Global Graphics is a leading developer and supplier of high-performance solutions for document creation, management and printing. PDF has become the standard file format for secure digital document exchange and many electronic document handling or graphic arts software applications generate and process PDFs. Jaws PDF Library COM Edition gives developers the ability to output standard PDF files from their desktop or server based applications that can be viewed and printed by anyone using the free Adobe Acrobat Reader application. The first application of Jaws PDF Library COM Edition is within the innovative online PDF creation service launched by T-Online to its 10 million subscribers in Germany at the CeBIT international technology trade fair in Hanover earlier this month. The T-Online service uses a number of Global Graphics’ software components within the solution, including Jaws PDF Library COM Edition to produce robust PDF files; a component based on the Jaws RIP to produce preview files; and a custom-built web-based front end. Jaws PDF Library COM Edition is based on the core technology of Global Graphics’ Jaws PDF family of PDF creation and editing products. It gives Windows-based software developers a comprehensive programming toolkit featuring a Component Object Model interface to make it compatible with any Windows-based application using Visual Basic 6, VB.NET or Visual C# scripting languages. Jaws PDF Library COM Edition is fully compatible with the latest PDF specification version 1.4. Many procedures and definitions of the PDF file output can be configured including: Image compression for ColorImage, GreyImage, MonoImage; resolution; security and advanced PDF output options. A basic 14 fonts are built in as a ROM file system and other fonts can be added using the described font functions. Added fonts are stored as ‘reference’ or ‘stubs’ on a hard disk or other defined location. Users have the flexibility to redefine any of the procedures or definitions as necessary. In addition to its popular Jaws PDF Creator and Jaws PDF Editor software for end users, Global Graphics provides a suite of cost-effective, reliable and easy to use Jaws PDF-based tools for developers including: Jaws PDF Courier (generation and delivery of PDF files), Jaws PDF Library (PostScript to PDF and PDF to PostScript conversion for Windows, Linux, Macintosh and Sun Solaris platforms) and now Jaws PDF Library COM Edition (PostScript to PDF conversion for the Windows platform). Jaws PDF Library COM Edition is available by license agreement to ISVs, OEMs, and system integrators.
