IKON Delivers Pay-As-You-Use Color to Office Workgroups, Small Businesses

Press release from the issuing company

Valley Forge, PA - March 3, 2003 - IKON Office Solutions, Inc., the largest independent distributor of document management products and services in the U.S. with operations throughout North America and Europe, today announced two new copier/printers from Ricoh--the Aficio 1224C and Aficio 1232C--designed specifically to address the growing demand for affordable office color documents. In addition to an attractive purchase price and low-cost black-and-white output, the Aficio 1224C/1232C offer full-color copying, printing and scanning services on a pay-as-you-use basis. In fact, all pages are billed according to their status, even in mixed color and black-and-white documents, so users pay for color only if they use color, but enjoy the low operating cost and high productivity level of a conventional monochrome device anytime. "These latest Ricoh copier/printers enable IKON to help our customers build a strategy designed to sensibly integrate color documents into their daily workflow," said Cathy Lewis, Senior Vice President of Marketing, IKON Office Solutions. "The products' pay-as-you-use capability allows companies to experiment with and experience the power of color in a cost-conscious manner." The Ricoh Aficio 1224C and Aficio 1232C ensure user productivity with speeds of 24/32 ppm black-and-white and 8/10 ppm color, respectively, as well as a suite of professional finishing options to automatically create complete document sets. In addition, these copier/printers fulfill scan-to-e-mail applications via Ricoh GlobalScan, transforming paper-based documents into digital files for quick and convenient distribution. To make novice users effective with today's digital color technology, IKON's Professional Services team offers seamless system installation services and necessary training. What's more, IKON's skilled, locally based service technicians are available to maintain the functionality of these Ricoh systems throughout their lifecycle. Additionally, Ricoh SmartNetMonitor network printer management software simplifies the monitoring responsibilities of IT/MIS departments, offering status information on toner and paper supply levels, as well as advanced capabilities such as remote troubleshooting and parallel printing in multiple device installations. "As companies look to differentiate themselves from competitors in these challenging economic times, affordable on-demand color can be an effective tool," continued Ms. Lewis. "The Aficio 1224C/1232C will deliver the impact and benefits of color into sales proposals, invoices, presentation materials and more, while still allowing general communications to be produced inexpensively as traditional black-and-white documents." The Ricoh Aficio 1224C and Aficio 1232C are available immediately from IKON.
