GATF Issues Call for Nominations for Education Awards of Excellence

Press release from the issuing company

Pittsburgh, Pa., February 28, 2003 — Recognizing that the advancement of the printing industry depends upon individuals dedicated to education and training, the Graphic Arts Technical Foundation (GATF) created the Education Awards of Excellence. Since 1984 the awards have annually honored both an academic educator and industry trainer who have each made outstanding contributions to educational efforts in the graphic communications field. GATF urges those who know of motivated and enthusiastic leaders who have successfully implemented an educational or training program to submit a nomination prior to May 30, 2003. The winning academic and industry representatives will each be presented with an engraved plaque and honored at a luncheon during the 2003 PIA/GATF Administrative Meetings. Next scheduled for November 13–16, 2003 in San Antonio, Texas, this forum hosts an impressive audience of industry leaders including boards of directors and committee members for GATF and its Society of Fellows; Printing Industries of America (PIA) and its Ash Khan Society; and the Print and Graphics Scholarship Foundation (PGSF). Additionally the winners’ names will be added to a roster of “who’s who” of notable educators and industry trainers. Past winners include Frank Romano, Dr. Lee Weir, Harvey Levenson, Edward Kelly, Susan Kinney, and Harold Gegenheimer. Educators at all academic levels and trainers in all segments of the printing industry are eligible. Candidates do not have to be GATF/PIA members and there is no nomination fee. A committee comprised of noted industry and education leaders will make the final award selections. To receive a nomination form, contact Alissa Gould, GATF’s public relations manager, by phoning 412/741-6860 extension 702 or by emailing [email protected]. Written requests can be directed to GATF, 200 Deer Run Road, Sewickley, PA 15143-2600.
