EFI Introduces PrintMe Enterprise at DEMO 2003

Press release from the issuing company

February 17, 2003—Scottsdale, AZ—Electronics For Imaging, the world leader in imaging solutions for network printing, today unveiled PrintMe Enterprise. From across the hall to around the globe, PrintMe Enterprise reinvents office printing to fit the new mobile work style. Developed for the growing legions of "corridor warriors" who need to work anywhere in the enterprise but can only print while at their desks, PrintMe Enterprise lets corporate employees and guests print to any printer in their organization using any laptop or e-mail capable mobile device. PrintMe Enterprise does not require any complex installation or ongoing IT support. IDC recently reported that over 60% of the total U.S. workforce are now mobile workers and that number is expected to grow to as much as 66% by 2006. Additionally, IDC reported that over 90% of mobile professionals have notebook PCs and almost 85% carry PDAs. Yet most of these workers can’t print once they leave their desk. PrintMe Enterprise furthers EFI's vision of a world where printing anywhere and anytime is as easy using an ATM machine to get cash. PrintMe Networks was introduced in 2002 for mobile professionals who need to print at hotels, airports and other public locations. PrintMe Enterprise will enable that same freedom of printing within the corporate LAN. And its powerful, one driver technology makes life easy for roaming employees, business guests, and busy IT departments. DEMO 2003 is the first public showing of PrintMe Enterprise. It is currently being used at several corporate beta sites globally and will be publicly available in late March 2003. "PrintMe Enterprise enhances mobile employee productivity while maximizing the return on a corporation's investment in wireless technologies," said Ofer Tenenbaum, General Manager of EFI's PrintMe division. "The growing use of mobile devices has made it easy for people to work productively in many locations in the corporation. Now PrintMe Enterprise will make printing from those devices equally easy." PrintMe Enterprise resolves mobile printing problems by allowing mobile users of any e-mail-enabled wireless device to print to any network printer within the enterprise or to any FAX machine outside it. Users simply indicate what they want to print and the destination printer, then hit the print button. PrintMe Enterprise is the first printing solution that allows employees to print to any enterprise printer with just one PrintMe driver, whether they need to use a printer across the hall or across the globe.
