GenX Systems Software Products Acquired by COPI

Press release from the issuing company

Houston, Tex. U.S.A. (Feb. 18, 2003) --- COPI (Computer Output Print & Internet) announced today the acquisition of the McGrew + McDaniel Group's GenX Suite of XML-based software for high-volume computer output (HVCO) and print. The acquisition reflects COPI's commitment to growing its world-class software division by a combination of acquisition and partnering with best-of-breed suppliers. Under the terms of the transaction, COPI has acquired all of the assets associated with the GenX products for an undisclosed amount. "COPI's acquisition of the GenX software family is one more step in a series of moves designed to extend COPI's services to both the print- and Internet-based output industry," said Andy Plata, president and CEO of COPI. "Our software division, now directed by former GenX Systems' creator Bill McDaniel, will aggressively expand its services to address critical output needs of both our user and vendor clients through an ever-widening range of products and services." "We created the GenX Suite to have a major impact on the world of print and Internet delivery of documents," said Pat McGrew, the GenX architect. "I am extremely excited to see a company with COPI's technical and international marketing capabilities bring the GenX dream to full capability." COPI's GenX Systems family of software includes: GenXsys xKalibur - an XML Tagger for all ASCII, Xerox Metacode, IBM AFP, and Adobe PDF files. xKalibur scans print files or the flat data files generated by in-house or vendor business applications and extracts critical data using the proprietary GenXsys pattern-matching algorithm. Data is wrapped in XML tags that are user specified with custom or industry standard schemas. xKalibur writes the XML stream to a text file or XML database for later use or passes it to your web-viewing applications. GenXsys xKalibur-PLUS - includes the standard GenXsys xKalibur product plus a pre-packaged web-application for viewing the critical data. A simple wizard helps to configure the application by specifying location of critical data on the screen and adding boilerplate text as desired. After that, users can register, login, and view critical data immediately using a confidential password. No programming is required to get the application to have your corporate look and feel. Logos, colors, and page layout and graphics are all configurable using the program's simple wizard. GenXsys xKalibur-PLUS provides an out-of-the-box, XML-viewing application for customers generating large volumes of legacy print who want to make the critical data available to end users or outsourcing customers. GenX Systems PDF-n2-XXX - offers the enterprise the ability to reprint large volumes of PDF documents by converting them to IBM AFP or Xerox Metacode. The conversions are fast, simple to set up, and operate in multiple production modes including SOAP-based servers. The PDF-n2-XML component of PDF-n2-XXX interfaces with GenXsys xKalibur to provide enterprise-level data mining capabilities against PDF archives.
