Konica Introduces the Force 65 for High-Speed Black and White Printing

Press release from the issuing company

WINDSOR, Conn., Feb. 18 -- Konica Business Technologies, Inc. (Konica), the innovation leader in digital imaging solutions and a subsidiary of Konica Corporation, today introduced the Konica FORCE 65 Production Printing System. Delivering high-volume functionality and productivity, the FORCE 65 offers the most capabilities in its class, including wide paper support for up to 12" x 18" paper, Konica's Simitri Polymerized Toner, as well as production finishing capabilities such as three-hole punching, three- folding, multiple post-sheet insertion, and booklet-making - ideal for central reprographics departments (CRD), datacenters and back office environments that specialize in long-run and specialized print jobs. Following the success of Konica's FORCE 60 and FORCE 75, the FORCE 65 is a next generation production printing system that combines virtually unmatched speed and versatility - 65ppm printing, fully featured PCL5e and PostScript print drivers for advanced feature access, robust job building, host printing solutions and the ability to handle multiple datastreams. Built on the award-winning Konica 7165 Departmental Document System engine, the FORCE 65 provides superior paper handling flexibility with three universal main paper trays that are capable of accommodating up to 12" x 18" paper, from 16 lb.-bond up to 110 lb.-index (200 gsm) and two optional large capacity trays. With a total online paper capacity of 6,600 sheets and tray switching capabilities that allow for a job to pull from multiple paper trays during production, the FORCE 65 is designed to handle a diversity of production print jobs and to deliver uninterrupted operation for high-volume environments. The FORCE 65 offers high-performance network printing with the powerful embedded IP-511 print controller with its 6.0GB hard drive, 566 MHz processor and a maximum memory of 192MB. In addition, the FORCE 65 delivers more consistent, higher quality output than other devices in its class with Konica's breakthrough Simitri Polymerized Toner, which maintains the uniformity of the toner particles to produce clean, crisp 600 x 600 dpi resolution with an offset-like look. The FORCE 65 also boasts advanced continuous toner technology for changing the toner without interruption to service; a self-contained imaging unit featuring a straighter paper path and duplex unit; as well as IP Connexion Web Utilities for increased device management. Finishing Options With the FORCE 65's two finishing options, the FS-110 and FS-210, businesses can bring professional document finishing capabilities in-house, improving their overall productivity and reducing production costs. The FS- 110 provides eight-position stapling and document sorting. The FS-210 delivers eight-position stapling and document sorting as well as booklet- making with a capacity of up to 80 pages and three-fold mode for folding letter-size paper to fit #10 envelopes. In addition, an embedded punch kit is available for three-hole punching at rated speed. Post-sheet insertion is also available through the PI-110, which enables the insertion of both a saddle-stitched cover and individual front and back covers. "The FORCE 65 unites a high-quality, high-speed print engine and controller with the production advantages of Konica's copiers, and delivers a time-saving, cost-effective solution to the high-volume printing industry," said William H. Brewster, vice president, marketing, Konica Business Technologies, Inc.
