Data One Installs First Scitex Digital Printing VersaMark in France

Press release from the issuing company

PARIS, Feb. 06, 2003 -- Scitex Digital Printing, the world's leading provider of high-speed digital print solutions, a wholly owned subsidiary of Scitex Corporation, Ltd., is pleased to announce the first sale in France of a VersaMark Business Color Press. The installation took place last month at Data One, a leader in high-volume variabledata printing based in Paris. Founded in 1999, Data One is a print service provider to marketing agencies and direct sales companies. Its primary focus is developing new approaches to targeted, personalized communication for the direct marketing sector. To do so, Data One constantly evaluates and implements the latest advanced technology. "We have successfully managed color variable data printing in the past, but our goal was to increase volume," explained Jean Yves Naud, Data One's Production Manager. "We have had outstanding results with the phenomenal speed of the Scitex Digital Printing VersaMark, achieving run rates up to 1,500 pages per minute for four-color process, and up to 3,000 pages for black and white with spot color. We've been evaluating VersaMark for some time, and we fully appreciate the advances in quality, reliability, and robustness. It's an ideal one-to-one printing system that delivers high-quality output at a reasonable price." "The VersaMark Business Color Press has been developed for cost-effective production of a wide range of applications, including direct mail campaigns, coupon printing, directories and catalogues, as well as books, invoices and account statements," added Laurent Mathieu, Sales Manager for Scitex Digital Printing in France. "Our system eliminates the need to pre-print four-color shells and can handle paper from 55 to 160 grammes." Personalized mailings have been proven to generate a greater response than static documents. Moreover, color has more impact than black and white. With its acquisition of the VersaMark system, Data One can now provide high-quality work in four-color process (or black and white with spot color) to clients looking to enhance the value and effectiveness of their documents. "We're not trying to compete with print on demand services. Our goal is to generate greater volumes of color variable printing. We're the first company in France to invest in high-speed color variable inkjet printing, and we believe there is a strong market for the output this system can provide," concluded Jean Yves Naud of Data One.
