Heidelberg Selects ATG Commerce for Online Initiatives, Worldwide E-Strategy

Press release from the issuing company

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--Jan. 27, 2003--ATG, a leading developer of online marketing, sales, and service solutions for global consumer-facing organizations, today announced that Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg), the leading solutions provider for the print media industry, has selected ATG technology to power its global online strategy. As part of the company's online initiative, Heidelberg is deploying a series of channels aimed at delivering highly personalized user experiences to its employees, customers and business partners. The first project, a commerce site focused on the Austrian market, was successfully launched in the Fall of 2002. As the first quarter of 2003 progresses, Heidelberg's strategy calls for the continued roll out of additional deployments in other markets, including a site from which individuals will be able to access current product documentation, such as FAQs, as well as operating and maintenance manuals. "With ATG, we selected the most advanced personalization technology," explains Dirk Bergner, senior vice president, Corporate Information Technology, Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG. "ATG Commerce and the ATG Relationship Management Platform have provided us with the necessary infrastructure for an easy expansion of our global online activities in the future. The smooth implementation of the initial project has demonstrated to us that we made the right choice." For Heidelberg, the technology to support its global online strategy had to provide not only advanced personalization capabilities and scalability, but also the ability to easily integrate with existing IT systems. The flexible architecture of the ATG Relationship Management Platform allowed the company to quickly integrate ATG's technology with solutions such as the Interwoven Content Management System without any difficulty. Heidelberg will further leverage the architecture's flexibility as its e-business initiatives continue to evolve. "Heidelberg's deployment of ATG Commerce and the ATG Relationship Management Platform are wonderful examples of how organizations are addressing both customer-facing and infrastructure requirements with ATG technology," said Victor Cheng, senior director of product marketing, ATG. "With the out-of-the-box functionality ATG provides, we are able to help our customers address issues such as personalization, scalability and integration quickly and easily."
