Xeikon Open House profiles the future of the printed document in today's cross-media landscape

Thursday, May 31, 2007

Press release from the issuing company

LIER, BELGIUM, 30 May – Xeikon will host an open house at their headquarters in Lier, Belgium, on 5 June 2007. The event will profile innovative applications that show the added value that digital printing solutions bring in today’s communication processes. The event is targeted at printers, creative agencies and service bureaus active in direct marketing and transactional printing, as well as in-plant or corporate data centers. Visitors to the Xeikon Open House will discover how digital print solutions have further improved. Norbert Verkimpe, chairman and CEO of WDM Belgium and WDM International, will give the keynote address on “Data driven Cross Media Personalization”, and exhibits will include: - A fully personalized insurance offering: a fully integrated solution with partners Icon Systemhaus for the application and workflow, IBIS for the booklet-making and UPM for the paper, printed on the Xeikon 5000plus using an AFP-driven workflow. - Inline production of a fully personalized self-mailer: a solution developed in cooperation with GMC, Hunkeler and Arctic paper, printed on the Xeikon 6000 using the X-800 IPDS front-end. - Production of a self-mailer on pre-converted paper: a fully personalized self-mailer that is ready to mail without any further conversion steps required after printing. This is the ideal solution for producing short run mailers. The pre-converted material is supplied by Convertible Solutions and the mailer is printed on the Xeikon 4000. - Production of converted individualized mailings using the Kern Easymailer: the Xeikon 4000 prints the content of the mailing as well as the envelope. The print work is finished offline by the Easymailer. “When talking to professional document printers today, it is clear they are looking to optimize productivity on one hand, and searching for new applications on the other,” states Mr. Danny Mertens, Business Development Manager Document Printing for Xeikon. “Advances in printing technology have made it possible to get both. New applications deliver high quality while lowering overall project costs. Digital printers and solution providers value the improved margins and customers really appreciate a true personal approach. For example a customized insurance price quotation significantly increases its appeal if the document exceeds the customer’s expectations. It shows respect for him to present his own data in a high quality printed mailing piece.” The exhibits show that the Xeikon presses are the ideally suited for all sorts of cross-media applications: from a bank statement to a fully personalized coupon mailing. Moreover, all documents are printed in high image quality, and the Xeikon solution fits seamlessly in any kind of workflow, enabling the printing of all “mission critical” complex variable data applications. Mr. Siegfried Trinker, Chief Sales Officer, states “The Xeikon Family: the Xeikon 4000, Xeikon 5000plus, and the top end Xeikon 6000, open unbeaten opportunities for digital printers. Recently introduced to the market, these are the fastest and most productive digital printing solutions currently available.” “The Xeikon Family of digital printing and workflow solutions offers by far the highest quality/productivity ratio,“ Mr. Trinker continues, “The event will show live that the Xeikon product family is a perfect fit and the best choice for the document printing market.” Xeikon is organizing the open house in co-operation with partners Artic, Convertible Solutions, Exstream, GMC, Group 1, Hunkeler, IBIS, Icon Systemhaus, Kern, Morgana, PrintSoft, and UPM.
