Limited Edition Lithograph Series Continued for GOA 2003

Press release from the issuing company

Miami, Florida, 1/13/03 – Exhibitors and attendees of Graphics of the Americas 2003 are eligible to receive the second in a series of limited edition lithographs by world renowned painter and printer Lionel Barnett. Depicting the endangered Florida Panther, these prints are valued at over $200 and will be given away free to a limited number of participants January 24-26 at the Miami Beach Convention Center. “We are most grateful that Lionel Barnett has once again donated his time, energy and talents to this project,” said Chris Price, Vice President and General Manager of GOA 2003, “To have an artist of his stature involved raises the profile of the show and all our exhibitors.” Renowned for his wildlife paintings, Lionel Barnett will be on hand to personally sign a limited edition series of lithographs at the 28th annual Graphics of the Americas. The lithograph, depicts the Panther against the backdrop of a moonlit sky. Halley’s Comet, in the background, underscores the unasked question, will the species survive until the comet’s next appearance. Six hundred of the valuable prints will be given away over the course of the show, which takes place January 24-26 at the Miami Beach Convention Center. Barnett was born in Cape Town at the foot of the African Continent and, as a child, he longed to become a Game Warden. During his teens he became infatuated with art and trained under world-renowned British Marine Artist G.W. Pilkington, painting seascapes and landscapes. However, due to his passion for wildlife and its preservation, it seemed natural that he should turn to painting “endangered” African animals. Barnett and his family moved to the United States in the 70’s and shortly thereafter, he presented Secretary of State Dr. Henry Kissinger with a portfolio of Limited Edition lithographs depicting six of Africa’s endangered wildlife. Barnett and his family now reside in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He continues to hope that the success of his work will promote a greater understanding of these beautiful animals. Graphics of the Americas is produced annually by the Printing Association of Florida, Inc., an industry trade association.
