Creo Demonstrates Scanners at MacWorld

Press release from the issuing company

MACWORLD SAN FRANCISCO -- January 7, 2003 -- Creo is demonstrating complete scanning solutions for creative professionaals at the Macworld Conference & Expo in San Francisco. Creo is exhibiting the EverSmart(tm) and iQsmart(tm) scanners, as well as the oXYgen scanning software that enhances scanning production. The iQsmart scanner won the 2002 Electronic Publishing "Hot Product" award. Creo is exhibiting in booth #743 at Macworld, which is being held at the Moscone Center, January 7-10. Quote from Creo Americas... "Premium-quality scanning was once a complicated process that required highly specialized and highly compensated operators," noted Jonathan Agger, scanner product marketing manager, Creo Americas. "This forced most creative shops to outsource their scanning needs. As high-quality flatbed CCD scanners emerged, scanning was slowly brought back in-house. Today, Creo offers the iQsmart scanners that produce professional quality and a user-friendly interface at a very affordable price. In fact, the largest growth in our scanner sales is with creative firms of all sizes." iQsmart Scanners: Affordable Quality In-house Scanning... Four advanced scanner models are being demonstrated at Macworld San Francisco: the renowned EverSmart scanners for the most demanding productivity needs and the new affordable iQsmart scanners. All models use the most advanced scanning technologies in the market. New version 2.2 of the oXYgen scanning application is being demonstrated for all the scanners, featuring enhanced batch scanning, improved productivity and full Mac OSÆ X support. The oXYgen scanning application is now also available for the WindowsÆ operating system for use with the well-priced iQsmart2 scanner. The iQsmart3 scanner features true optical resolution up to 5500 dpi from edge to edge. XY Stitch scanning technology assures consistent quality through sharper imaging. The iQsmart3 model scans up to 96 35mm slides at one time and produces up to 40 scans per hour. The scanner's compact size allows for an inverted CCD that is uniquely positioned to minimize dust and improve image quality. The iQsmart scans any type of original with high-quality results. High-quality scanning now can be done in-house at high volumes, minimizing job turnaround time. oXYgen Software: Professional Scanning Made Easy... Creo has developed the oXYgen scanning application to meet all the creative professional's scanning needs. The application incorporates pure 16-bit data capture with full ICC color management workflow. Comprised of two modules, Scan and Open, the oXYgen scanning application allows a user to either scan directly to RGB or CMYK if they need to use an image once, or create a Digital Transparency (DT file) for future uses. To create a DT file, the original image is scanned just once as a pure 16-bit RGB file and then saved to a digital archive. This file can then be used for as many output applications as needed, anywhere, anytime. If needed the user can re-purpose the image in offline mode. The oXYgen scanning application is designed with strong emphasis on flexibility, quality and productivity. In both oXYgen modules, the application provides professional image editing and proofing tools with a highly intuitive, icon-based, workflow-oriented interface, which guides the user through all the stages of the scanning workflow. The application is so easy to learn that even non-expert operators quickly become productive.
