basysPrint Sells the Largest CTP Plate Setter in the World

Press release from the issuing company

January 8, 2003 -- Recently the printing house WS Bookwell Ltd. ordered the largest CTP system in the world: the UV-Setter XL. The Finnish company is part of the newly established SanomaWSOY media corporation, with annual sales of 1,25 billion EUR. Bookwell, with 300 employees, is one of the largest offset printers in Finland. The company produces more than 20 million books each year for customers spread across Europe. The product range includes titles such as ”Harry Potter” and ”Lord of the Rings”. The company would have liked to convert it’s single colour production to CTP for a long time, but until now there was no system capable of exposing KPG Vitesse and handling large size plates. The decision to purchase the UV-Setter XL was made quickly; it is the only system on the market that can fulfill WS Bookwell’s needs. Like all of the other UV-SetterTM systems, this system can expose conventional offset printing plates as well as projection plates. With the format 1515 x 3150 mm, it is the largest CTP platesetter in the world. Magnus Breitenstein, managing director of WS Bookwell Ltd pointed out: ”With our special format needs we appreciate to have found a system by which we can use our existing workflow, plates and processors.”
