PIA Honors Norvin Hagan of Geographics

Press release from the issuing company

HANOVER PARK, Ill., December 29, 2002 — We’ve all heard stories about the waning economy, about diminishing profit margins and about layoffs. What we’ve not heard recently is a story about good, old-fashioned hard work actually paying off. Meet Norvin Hagan. Hagan is the chief operating officer for Atlanta’s Geographics, Inc., one of the most successful printing companies in the Southeast. Hard work, tenacity and a genuine commitment to surpassing expectations are the principles that have guided Hagan during his 27-year career in the printing industry and have made both he and his company as successful as they are today. Earlier this year, Hagan was honored by the Printing Industry Association of Georgia with the Benjamin Franklin Award for his long-term, major contributions to that state’s printing community. "The growth and stature of Geographics as a premier printing company in this country is a real testimony to Norvin’s vision, commitment and leadership," wrote Riley Whitman, who is vice president of sales for Fujifilm Graphic Systems Division and who nominated Hagan for the award. "I’ve known Norvin for four years and, in that time, have developed and enjoyed not only a solid professional relationship, but also a cherished friendship." And it is friendship that Hagan says is the secret of his success. "My father counseled me to make great friendships," he stresses. "I’ve enjoyed many lasting friendships with customers, vendors and employees. Simply put, we like doing business with our friends." Fujifilm worked with Hagan in transforming his company to an all-digital workflow, installing a number of pieces of equipment, including the two-page PictroProof digital proofer, the FINALPROOF digital contract proofer and Saber Luxel P-9600 CTP eight-up platesetter. Geographics also uses Fujifilm’s Rampage workflow. "We were happy to work with Norvin and with Geographics on their transformation to a CTP environment," comments Whitman. "In addition to his genuine hospitality, Norvin is also a great believer in new technologies and in advancing his company as well as the industry itself. His continual investments in new technologies and expanded capabilities are a testament to that." Established in 1983 and headquartered in Hanover Park, Ill., Fujifilm’s Graphic Systems Division is dedicated to providing end-users with the most comprehensive level of service and products available on the market today. Fujifilm provides end-users with a total electronic imaging solution with a complement of both consumables and hardware to serve the most demanding needs of the graphic industry.
