Standard Register Wins Three Awards In International Label Competition

Press release from the issuing company

DAYTON, Ohio--Dec. 20, 2002--Standard Register was recently recognized with awards in three categories at the Tag & Label Manufacturers Institute (TLMI) 2002 awards program for converters. The awards were announced at the TLMI Annual Meeting in Nevada. The international competition honors the finest labels produced by North, South and Central American, European and Australian member companies. Standard Register won first-place awards in the "EDP label" category and the "tags-industrial and/or systems" category. They also received a second-place award in the "flat screen printing-line-prime" category. A first-place award was given for "Triple Web Construction," which combines Tyvek, pressure sensitive and Tag stocks into one printable sheet, allowing it to be imaged in one pass-through. The unique combination of the three materials eliminates the need for multiple pass-throughs and change over time. An additional first-place award was received for the "Warranty Card with Pocket" entry, which utilizes tag, bond and pattern adhesives to create a pocket. This innovative solution allowed Klaussner Furniture, one of the largest furniture manufacturers in the United States, to combine five product-labeling items into one sheet, cutting inventory cost and helping to ensure proper paperwork on every piece of furniture. The award winning "Warranty Card" design eliminated product parts and increased efficiency. Being recognized for high quality printing capabilities, Standard Register received a second-place award for the "HVAC Logo-AQS" entry. Despite the high amount of ink coverage and tight registration, this label was produced for Carrier Corporation maintaining the integrity of the logo and offering a unique way of product labeling and branding. Carrier has relied on Standard Register for innovative labeling solutions for more than 10 years in which time SRC has provided Carrier with solutions that have produced several million dollars in cost savings. "We thank TLMI for this outstanding recognition," said David Laurash, director of technology and technical services, Standard Register. "Our continuous hard-work, commitment to quality, and investment in innovation and technology have always been top priorities in our products and partnerships. It's great to see them recognized by this association." "We are continuing to focus and build experience in key markets such as furniture and HVAC manufacturing," said Jeffrey Strasser, vice president of strategic marketing, Label Solutions, Standard Register. "Our ingenuity for pressure-sensitive labeling solutions is designed to reduce cost and improve workflow for our customers. It's an honor to be recognized by experts in our industry."
