Superior Printing Ink Names Michael R. Brice President & Chief Operating Officer

NEW YORK, NY (December 17, 2002) - The Superior Printing Ink Co., Inc. is proud to announce the promotion of Michael R. Brice to the position of President and Chief Operating Officer. Michael Brice, appointed Chief Operating Officer of Superior in January 2000, represents the fourth generation of family management in Superior's 84-year history. As President and COO, Brice will manage the day-to-day operations of Superior Printing Ink Co., Inc. Michael Brice assumes the position of President from his father, Harvey Brice, who will now hold the title of Managing Director. This move is the latest in the 40-year Superior Printing Ink career of Harvey Brice. As Managing Director, Harvey Brice will continue to take an active role, employing his wealth of knowledge and industry contacts to help guide Superior's future. Jeffrey I. Brice - President & COO Michael Brice has steadily advanced through the Superior ranks over the past 18 years, a career that includes a progression through all facets of the business and provided him with lab, production, sales, and managerial experience. In 1995 Brice and his team oversaw three phases of the massive automation and expansion project for Superior's Central Manufacturing Facility in Hamden, CT. In 1997, Brice was promoted to Corporate Vice President and regional manager for Superior's New York sales and manufacturing operations. Throughout his career Brice has been active in industry and charity organizations, including his current post as an AGC Board Member and a past term as President of the Graphic Arts Professionals. Brice was chosen as President of the New York Printing Ink Manufacturers Association in 2000 and was instrumental in its merger with the New York Printing Ink Production Club in January 2001 to form the Metro New York Printing Ink Association, Ltd. (MNYPIA). He has served as MNYPIA's President since its inception. He is presently a board member for Camp Vacamas, a camp for underprivileged children. He was honored with the New York Club of Printing House Craftsmen's Fellowship Award in 1996 and was recognized for his contributions to the Graphics Arts Community with the Navigators Service to Industry Award in 1999. Michael will receive the Florence and Leo Joachim Award from the New York Club of Printing House Craftsman on January 14, 2003. He currently resides in New Jersey with his wife of 14 years and their three children. Harvey R. Brice - Managing Director A graduate of Tulane University and former Lieutenant in the U.S. Army, Harvey Brice started his distinguished and successful career with the company in January 1963. Following a progression through technical, sales, and management positions, he assumed responsibilities as President of the Superior Printing Ink and the Gotham ink companies in 1988. His leadership helped guide Superior's significant expansion through the 1980s, growing the company to its current size with over 20 manufacturing and service facilities across the United States. In 1998, Harvey Brice was named the 41st recipient of the prestigious Ault Award from the National Association of Printing Ink Manufacturers (NAPIM) in addition to serving a term as its President (1991- 93) and is currently active as a member of the National Board of Directors. He is also a member of the Editorial Advisory Board of Ink World Magazine and Employer Trustee for Pension, Welfare and Annuity Plans of the Local 447 Union. Harvey Brice has amassed a number of industry accolades throughout his career, and also devoted his time to other segments of the graphic arts community and philanthropic pursuits. A former president of the New York Printing Ink Manufacturer's Association and a long-time member of the New York Litho Club, Harvey Brice also funded the New York School of Printing. He also helped establish a scholarship fund for the children of Superior employees who wish to pursue industry careers. Additionally, as director of the Altro Health and Rehabilitation Organization, he helped enact a printing shop program for the mentally challenged.
