Greenspun Media Group Gains Control With MassTransit

Press release from the issuing company

Arlington, VA – December 10, 2002 - Group Logic, developer of best-selling network workflow software products, announced that Greenspun Media Group, publisher of several newspapers and magazines serving the Las Vegas, Nevada region, has adopted MassTransit to support automated file transfer workflows for five publications. Titles supported by the innovative workflow arrangement including ShowBiz Weekly, Las Vegas Life, VegasGolfer, Las Vegas Weekly, and InBusiness Las Vegas. MassTransit operates as a "digital shipping and receiving department," completely automating and managing the process of transferring graphics, multi-media, and other production files between print media suppliers and their customers. For Steve Wilson, Director of Production and Data Processing at Greenspun, one of the biggest benefits MassTransit provides is control. "As a supervisor, MassTransit gives me all the tools I need to manage the workflow. Whether I'm in the office or not, I can still see that the workflow is moving. If there is a problem, MassTransit sends out an email so I can manage it," explains Wilson. With responsibility for multiple publications, Wilson knew he needed help in managing the flow of information between Greenspun's advertisers, editors and creative staff, and printers. He'd originally considered using FTP, or even building a custom solution from scratch. "Just managing all that information coming in for these different publications – an FTP site just doesn't have it. You need something to manage who its coming from and where its supposed to go, and when. FTP doesn't even have the simplest of databases attached to it, and that's the only way to manage information," he explains.
